Bastar Iron Craft

Hand-Forged Tribal Metal Art

Bastar Iron Craft, locally known as Dhokra Loha Kala, is an age-old tribal art form practiced by the master artisans of Chhattisgarh, India. Using traditional cold-forging techniques passed down through generations, craftsmen manually beat, bend, and shape scrap iron into expressive silhouettes without using any modern molds or machines. Inspired by tribal folklore, local deities, and nature, each piece captures a raw, minimalist aesthetic featuring subtle hammer marks and an authentic matte dark finish. Beyond its striking visual appeal, this centuries-old craft represents an eco-friendly tradition that transforms recycled metal into highly durable, heritage-rich decor. When you bring home a piece of Bastar Iron Craft from Hastrutam, you preserve a living cultural legacy while directly supporting the sustainable livelihoods of rural artisan communities.
